Bloomsburg Falls to Fairmont State Women's Basketball

FAIRMONT, WV-The Bloomsburg University women's basketball team fell to Fairmont State 63-59 on Saturday afternoon.
Fairmont State opened up an early 14-6 lead with 11:20 left in the first half. However the Huskies went on a 12-6 run and cut the Falcons lead to 20-18 after Laura Lyons (Hatfield/ Pennridge) connected on a jumper with 4:57 remaining in the half. However the Falcons would respond with a 9-0 run to take a 29-18 lead with 1:55 to go in the half. The Huskies would score the final four points of the half and trailed 29-22 going into the locker room.
Fairmont State built its biggest lead of the day to 12 as it started the second half with a 5-0 run, but the Huskies responded with a 10-0 run of their own to make it 34-32 with 14:19 left in the contest.
Bloomsburg stayed within striking distance and trailed 49-48 with 6:47 remaining. However a three-pointer by the Falcons Stephanie Beason sparked a 7-0 run, giving Fairmont State a 56-48 lead with 4:43 remaining in the game. The Huskies would cut the lead to three but could get no closer.
Bloomsburg (4-4) had three players reach double figures with Gabe Miskinis (Lewistown/ Lewistown) leading the way with 15, while Lyons had 13 and Colleen Kegerreis (Schuykill Haven/ Schuykill Haven) had 12. Bianca Lee (Temple Hills, MD Archbishop Carroll) had a game-high 10 rebounds. Jamie Merinar scored a game-high 18 points to lead the Falcons.
Bloomsburg will visit Shippensburg on December 19th at 6 p.m.
